Lineup announcement: As many of you may have heard, David Lamb of the band Brown Bird was recently hospitalized with extremely low red blood cell levels. Due to his illness, the band has been forced to cancel its current tour, including its appearance at Twangfest on June 6 at the Blueberry Hill Duck Room.
Everyone at Twangfest wishes the very best for David and Brown Bird. If you’d like to make a contribution to help with the health care costs David is incurring, visit his You Caring page.
While we are disappointed that Brown Bird will not be joining us this year, we are pleased to announce that Memphis, Tenn. group Motel Mirrors — featuring Amy LaVere, John Paul Keith and Shawn Zorn — has just been added to the Thursday, June 6 lineup at the Duck Room. We couldn’t be happier to host this exceptional rock ‘n’ roots band as it makes its St. Louis debut.
Twangspin is back! If you’re looking for a fun way to get in the mood for Twangfest 17, we hope you’ll join us for our second annual Twangspin at the Royale (3132 S. Kingshighway Blvd. in St. Louis) on Friday, May 31. Eight DJs — including KDHX radio personalities bobEE Sweet, Fred Friction, Caron House, Rich Reese, Roy Kasten, John Wendland and Chris Bay, plus Dale Fisher of the Twang Gang — will be spinning all manner of twang-friendly music all night long out on the patio. The spin starts at 6 p.m., admission is free, and we’ll be going all the way till last call. RSVP and invite your friends!
Last call for Friends of Twangfest Packs: We still have a few — and we really do mean a few — super-deluxe, VIP, Friends of Twangfest mega-packs on sale at the KDHX store. With your pack, you get: Guaranteed access to all four nights of Twangfest, an official t-shirt, poster, baseball cap and an invitation to an opening reception at Plush on June 5. You’ll also be our guest for an exclusive house concert with Marshall Crenshaw and the Bottle Rockets on the afternoon of Saturday, June 8. We really do have just a few of these VIP packages left, so get yours today!
And finally: Single night tickets are still available for all four nights of Twangfest, but don’t wait to buy yours. Head over to our ticket page or, if you prefer, you can also purchase tickets in advance at the Blueberry Hill venue (for Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows) and you’ll avoid service fees.
See you at Twangfest 17!
